We are so delighted to have found Claxton! John and I moved here to Salix, The Street, in May 2018 after many years living on the south coast. A boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads had changed our lives – we loved the area so rented out our house, bought a boat and lived on this for a few years while looking for a property.
I can trace my maternal ancestors to this area of Norfolk as far back as the 1700s – my grandparents lived in what is now the gift shop at the top of Elm Hill, until they moved to London before the First World War.
I have two sons and a daughter who live in Oxfordshire, Kent and York with their families – five grandchildren so far.
Now retired from careers in teaching and publishing I’m enjoying all that this wonderful area, and Norfolk in general, has to offer. Gardening for wildlife has become a bit of a passion, and other interests include natural history, the environment and current affairs. I enjoy walking/hiking, reading, yoga at the village hall, and also golf, kayaking and cycling when I have the energy.
I was elected to the Parish Council in 2023. I’m also one of the small team that runs the monthly Community Café.
